Q) Can you sort out legalaties in our embassy on our behalf?

A) In the majority cases yes, we can save you that extra trip to Croatia you would otherwise have to make to your embassy, the Croatian institutions and ministries. But as each case it is individual and different more concrete details we will know when we get to the stage of working on your documents. In either case we will make it much easier for you, saving you unnecessary trips to government departments, unecessary duplication of document and ensure you safely follow all the rules and laws of your country(ies) and Croatia.

Q) Will the website you make for us be visible to everybody?

A) Most clients opt for a private website which is password protected, geo-locked and anti-search-engine; this is in fact our standard practice. However, if you wish your wedding website can be publicly visible.

Q) Whats the cost of a wedding in a hotel?

A) Cost of a wedding in a hotel are different from hotel to hotel and your requirements. There are some stanardised prices which vary depending on menu and services. You are request we tailor your wedding around your requirements so basically the price is dependant on your choice of services and hotel after all.

Sailing Weddings.

Q) Would it be possible to charter a gullet for our wedding celebration?

A) Yes this can be done. We'd make arrangements with a Registrar along your route to be available for the civil ceremony and the ships crew regarding decorations, food, drink and other services. Email our yachting team with you details.

Anniversary Celebrations.

Q) My wife and I will be 50 years married next September so I am looking for a local event planner to work with. Well be having around 150 guests to stay for a weekend, we'll be paying for their weekend stay. Could you provide this service?

A) Yes, that wouldn't be a problem. If you have a venue in mind for your celebration we'll arrange for the extra services to be delivered, otherwise our event planners will work with you to identify a suitable venue. We can also provide your guests with an information portal, name places, name tags, hotel room assignment, car hire and on-site coordination of the weekend. Hiring a ship for a wedding.

Q) Can we hire a ship for our wedding ceremony? And could our reception also be held there?

A) Yes tWeddings can be held on a ship anhis can be done, we can arrange your celebration/reception on one of our many boats. A) You can have any type of music. Please specify what music you'd like to have and your wedding organiser will arrange it and make sure you receive all the music that you want. There are no limits on the type of music you can have. Please find some samples of types of music available here.

Q) I'm not christened, can I get married in a Catholic church?

A) Yes, if your partner is Catholic. They would need to sign some documents to allow this to proceed. Or you could both change to Catholicism. For more details you can check our religious wedding pages

Q) Can we have an Orthodox weddings on Korcula?

Legal Marriage.

Q) How can I get legally married in Croatia?

A) Only Civil ceremonies have legal validity. Therefore, if you wish to get married and have a legal recognition of your marriage anywhere in the world, you need to opt for a civil ceremony.

Orthodox Wedding, Catholic Church.

Q) Can an Orthodox get married in a Catholic church?

A) Yes, as Catholic church recognises an Orthodox christening.

Wedding Insurance.

Q) Do you have any information about wedding insurance?

A) Not every wedding insurer will cover your wedding destination. Check with your insurer or ask your wedding planner; they will be able to recommend an insurer that will cover your destination.

Catholic in Orthodox Church.

Q) Can a Catholic get married in an Orthodox church?

A) No, as the Orthodox Church does not recognise a Catholic christening. But, if your partner is Orthodox and you wish to get married in an Orthodox church you can always be christened and you'll then be able to marry in church. For more details visit our page on religious ceremonies

Q) Should you negotiate on wedding prices in Croatia?

A) Leave your wedding manager to use local knowledge and experience to get you the best service. Sometimes its possible to negotiate a better deal.

Costs in Croatia.

Q) Is Croatia a cheap country?

A) No. Pricing of food are generally the same price as at home, possibly greater. Accommodation is more expensive. But it is possible to find cheaper local restaurants with delicious traditional foods.

Q) Can we have a wedding blessing?

A) Blessings are conducted by English, German, Norwegian, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian (and other languages) speaking celebrants provided by IAS Nika Travel. A wide selection of blessing are available to our clients. They can be personalised and can be conducted at any location of your choice. Outdoor Wedding.

Q) Are outdoor weddings cheaper than hotel weddings?

A) Generally no, outdoor weddings can be more expensive as outdoor catering would be required. It is of course possible to cook yourselves, in which case we can supply the equipment and raw food to your villa or rented house. When you hire a hotel or restaurant you are paying for everything in one price; with a beach wedding you have to pay for everything - food, drinks etc, plus chairs, tables and the labour to lay it all out.

Q) I was asked by a wedding organiser to give our budget upfront. Why should I do that?

A) There is no point a wedding organiser quoting for a wedding when the services they suggest fall outside your budget. By supplying a budget up front the wedding organiser is able to select the service providers to suit your pocket. Also, if you are trying to do something very special in an extra tight budget it is wise to tell your planner early on; they will probably have a few tricks up their sleeves and maybe a few favours to pull and make your surprise possible.

Legal Wedding.

Q) Is it legal to get married in Croatia?

A) Strictly speaking a marriage between two people is legal in the UK if it is legal in the country in which you are marrying. A better question is, how can we have a legal wedding in Croatia? The answer is, as long as you are married in a Civil Ceremony by a Croatian Registrar then YES, a wedding in Croatia is legal. To accomplish this you have to fulfil several requirements which you can find on our web pages Civil Ceremonies in Croatia.

Symbolic Ceremonies.

Q) We were married in the Registrar office at home. Can we have arranged a symbolic Ceremony?

A) Symbolic ceremonies are conducted by English, German, Norwegian, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian (and other languages) speaking celebrants provided by IAS Nika Travel. Right to a Tailored Wedding.

Q) Do I have a right to a tailored wedding if I am going to pay discounted rates?

A) Everybody has a right to get everything agreed on the registration form. Youmight have received a discounted rate as you have requested only specific services, in which case you will receive only the services that you have agreed on your registration form and services you have paid for.

Boats as a Wedding Venue.

Q) Can we have a wedding on a boat?

A) Yes you can. We can arrange a civil ceremony on a boat and, or, a religious ceremony, but the latter depends on your particular religion. Take a look at our galleonship weddings as an example and ask our wedding planners any specific or further questions you have.

Hindu Weddings, Anglican Church.

Q) Can a Hindu couple get married in an Anglican church?

A) In Croatia a religious building can only be used for that religion's purposes. A Hindu couple could wed in an Anglican Church if they converted to Anglicanism, which is probably not what you wanted.

Registration Fees.

Q) What is your registration charge for? And your 12% fee?

A) Our registration fee is payable on registration; in effect it pays the wedding planners for their time. The 12% is charged on services which we organise on your behalf. Therefore, if you spent 10,000 euro on wedding services, our fees would be 1,200 euro plus 1000 euro registration fee, which totals 2,200 euro.

Q) How far in advance should I book start planning my weddings?

A) Ideally you should start planning your wedding with your wedding planner 9-12 months beforehand. It is technically possible to organise everything 1 month beforehand, but this will increase the cost, reduce the availability of venues and services. That said, a fairly small wedding of, say, 10-20 guests, if you are not too picky with accommodation, restaurant, dinner etc,

Q) Can I hire a house for my wedding in Croatia?

A) Yes! In fact, for a our clients that want a nearly fully customised wedding we recommend suitable premises which is large enough for the wedding ceremony, reception and party, plus some accommodation always comes with it. For a wedding up to 50-60 guests some of our Hvar, Brac and Split Luxury villas are excellent locations with private pool and accommodation for up to 12 guests. Transport for Wedding Guests.

Q) Do you have any arrangements in place for guest transport?

A) We have a range of services available. We have take your guests form the airport by coach and use a ferry to bring them to your location. Alternatively, we can arrange for a water taxi to transfer them which will be a little quicker but a bit more expensive. They could also rent a car from one of our rent-a-car providers. For those guests that want to do some sightseeing beforehand we can relay to them public transport details and popular attractions.

Documentation Required for Wedding.

Q) How do I get a Certificate of No Impediment?

A) Obtain a Certificate of No Impediment by Giving Notice (publishing the Banns) at your local registry office. But before you do this contact your wedding planner. Much of the advice on the net regarding these rules are misleading and incomplete, and the smallest mistake such as the wrong date on a document can mean you forfeit your entire wedding. Your wedding planner will take up all this responsibility on their back and make sure that everything is done properly to legal requirements. Wedding Websites.

Q) Is it beneficial to have a wedding website?

A) Of course it is. A well managed wedding website will be a focal point to managing your guests. And the only person who can manage the website well is your wedding planner. The good wedding planner knows all the details that should be put there: timings, warnings, information for your guests. They can also act as you RSVP. IAS Nika Travel provide wedding website to all their clients using a professional team of developers.

Secular Aspects of Wedding.

Q) Can we have a secular wedding?

A) Yes we do secular aspects of weddings, symbolic weddings and civil ceremonies as well as alternative forms of ceremony, eg humanist, atheist. We are arranging your wedding around you to fit your requirements. For more please ask questions directly to your wedding planner.

Documentation.

Q) Where do I get the Certificate of Freedom to Marry?

A) Obtain a certificate of freedom to marry is done by completing a statutory declaration called a "Certificate de coutume".

Wedding Planners.

Q) Recommended wedding planners

A) On free advice websites you will find recommended wedding organisers are people who are advertising wedding planners and services, so they recommend service providers who have paid to publish on their website. Most of the testimonials without a contact provided are fake as well. So you have to be vigilant and you decide which wedding organiser can give you what you are looking for and do good research and be aware of tricks. The same is in the UK, Ireland, Croatia and other countries, recommended wedding planners simply pay for their recommendation. We are regularly invited to publish on such websites but refuse.

Legal Matters.

Q) What's this about residency requirements?

A) There are no residency requirements to marry in Croatia. But depending on the wedding planner/organiser that you are using there might be a need to visit Croatia several times before you actually get married. With us you do not need to go. When IAS Nika Travel are arranging your wedding in 99% of cases you do not have to go to Croatia before a few days before your wedding. We will do most of the leg work for you, and in most of the cases all of it, but that depends on your case and the Embassy. Until now we have done everything for our clients on their behalf without any need for clients to go earlier.

Wedding Legal Matters.

Q) How can we get a copy of our Certificate of Marriage / Marriage Certificate?

A) You can have yours issued in Croatian and international. You CANNOT get it issued in English. The International Marriage Certificate is accepted in most European countries which have signed an agreement with Croatia. Ask your wedding organiser to explain this to you.

Cavtat Church Wedding.

Q) We are planning a wedding in Cavtat next year. is possible to get married in one of the churches in Cavtat? We are not Catholics.

A) If you are not Catholic you cannot get married in a Catholic church. However, other religions are well represented in Croatia, and if you are Church of England, unlike Catholics, we can arrange a religious ceremony outside. We work very closely with the church and can arrange an outdoor religious wedding celebration throughout Croatia.

Q) Can we have a Church of Ireland wedding in Croatia?

Q) How long does a civil wedding last?

A) Usually between 20 and 30 minutes, but you may come to some arrangements to add other readings to your ceremony, or keep it short and sweet.

Q) We want to charter a yacht for our honeymoon sailing through the Adriatic, can you suggest any vessels in our area?

A) Would you want a bareboat or crewed charter? Either way contact our yachting team with your details and they'll come back ASAP.

Spray Tan / Fake Tan.

Q) Can I get spray tan in Croatia?

A) If you have time we suggest taking advantage of the sun and get a natural tan. Our wedding planners are working with respected beauticians that are using branded products only, so please be assured you can find everything in Croatia that you can find in your home country and more. And if you are looking for a specific product your wedding organiser will arrange it for you.

Wedding Costs.

Q) When is the cheapest time of year to get married?

A) The cheapest is out of season, November, February, March. In our opinion the best time of year to get married for summer weddings is September; its not too hot, not too expensive, and less tourists. December and January are the perfect months for winter weddings; beautiful freezing conditions with lots of snow.

30 Guest Wedding Costs.

Q) How much would a wedding of 30 guests cost?

A) How much do you want to spend? Its possible to organise a wedding for 5,000 Euro, equally 50,000 Euro can be well spent. However, our Cost of Wedding in Croatia page will help you work out example costs.

A) Yes we can provide a yacht, gullet or galley ship for your wedding. Decorations and meals can be brought about with a cruise around the Adriatic.

Legal Documentation.

Q) We want to elope to Croatia and get married next week, how much would this cost?

A) Unless you have all your documents ready then this wont be possible. If you have all your documents (see here for a list of necessary documents) then we will be able to arrange this. Assuming you want a civil ceremony in a registrar's office and you want a quick wedding without the frills you could keep the cost below 2000 Euro.

Croatian Wedding Costs Under 2,000 Euro.

Q) Is it possible to have a wedding under 2,000 Euro?

A) Yes. The minimum cost of civil wedding would be from 1,500 Euro. This assumes you only pay for the civil ceremony; no flowers, music, dinner, just the ceremony.

The minimum cost of a church wedding plus civil ceremony would be around 1,800 Euro. This is assuming you only pay for the bear civil ceremony and church, without flowers, music or anything else.

For 2,300 Euros, you could have a civil ceremony, bouquet and groom button holes, and dinner for four, and we might be able to squeeze in one night’s accommodation as well.

Q) How can I find the best wedding planner and organiser in Croatia?

A) There are many wedding organisers in Croatia, some more suitable for planning your wedding than others. You should contact a few to find out how they work and which best suits you in terms of price, services provided and how you get on with them. Interestingly, as an industry around 5% of enquiries actually become clients; for IAS Nika Travel and Croatia Weddings 73% of all enquiries actually become clients. As an industry around 67% of clients are very happy with their wedding planner, whilst IAS Nika Travel has an overall 98% rating.

Q) What is the average cost of a wedding in Croatia?

A) A wedding costs as much as you can afford. Our clients wedding have ranged in cost from 5000 euro to well over 260,000 euro; it's very much down to what you want to or can afford. Q) Can you provide our conference guests with a transfer from the airport to the conference centre?

A) We can provide a wide variety of transport, coach, bus, limousine, private car, water transfer, ferry crossing, and for guests further afield we can arrange helicopter and private jet transfer. Contact us here with your needs.

Wedding Planning Costs.

Q) What does the wedding day coordinator do and how much does it cost?

A) Our wedding day coordinators are there on your wedding day to ensure everything goes smoothly and that all your needs are attended to promptly. The Wedding Day Coordination is an eight hour service and two planners will be present. You will meet with your coordinator one month in advance for an in depth wedding. Prices vary depending on time of year and day of the week. Please discuss this with your wedding planner.

Wedding Manager.

Q) Do you have any wedding managers?

A) Our wedding manager is the head of our wedding planners, delegates which planner(s) will work on your wedding and assigned resources to your event?

Croatian Moments.

Q) Are you making special Croatian moments weddings?

Church Wedding.

Q) Catholic wedding outside of a church?

A) Catholic ceremonies cannot take place outside the church, but you can have your symbolic and civil ceremony outside on the beach or wherever you wish.

Wedding Planning.

Q) What do the Brides Parents pay for?

A)These days this is really up to the parents, although you can follow traditions if you wish (see our traditions page for an example). Whoever pays for any aspect of your wedding they should set a budget for their part so as you work with your planner on each element of your wedding and they will be able to guide you towards items within your budget.

Wedding Costs.

Q) We want to get married in June. Is it true that we will have to pay more at this time of year? Also, is there a difference in cost between Saturday and Sunday? Thanks

A) Yes, and Yes. If you are more flexible in regards to the month and particular day of the week your wedding planner will be able to make your wedding a little less expensive. This is especially true if you have a celebration in low season rather than high season. Accommodation, for example, can be up to 50% cheaper in low season, eg 150 Euro per night for a villa rather than 450 Euro per night. When it comes to price, everything - the day of the week, the month, time of day, etc - can come into play.

Costs of Wedding Suppliers.

Q) Do I need to have all the money you need upfront, or can I pay a deposit and the rest later?

A) In some circumstances its possible to pay a deposit and the rest a month or two beforehand. However, in our experience most prefer up front payments to secure their services. Its highly variable venue to venue, and supplier to supplier. Some costs can be differed, especially if you use a supplier for more than one serv

A) Definitely ask them how much they want to spend. Knowing your budget will let you and your wedding planner work out how much to put into each pot.
